MINUTES OF GENERAL MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, 26TH MAY, 2011 AT CENTRE FOR NATIONAL CULTURE

2. OPENING
The chairman, Mr. M. A. Appiah led the house to sing praises at exactly
11.20am. Pastor Mrs. Juliana Addai of Mummy's Darl Education Complex said the
opening prayer.\

The
Asst. Secretary, Mr. Odametey read the previous minutes. After correction were
made he moved for the acceptance of the minutes and it was seconded by Mr. J.
K. Ampomah, of Jesus Only School.
3.     MATTERS
ARISING
-
Attendance:         Zone "A"
had the highest presentation of twenty-three (23) members. 2nd Cycle
Schools present were five (5). Other Districts had two (2) members
present.
-
IFC Courses:
-
1st
Course on Succession Planning was organised.
-
Funeral:  - Members
attended two funerals; they were the Late Madam Fosuaa and the Late Mr. Donkor
of Solid Rock.
-
Distribution of Fan Milk footballs:-    Criteria
was the payment of dues.
-
KMA  Operational License Fee:- Members were urged to pay through
the secretariat.
-
PURCHASE OF SCHOOL BUSES / CARS.
4.     NEW
BUSINESS
A.     I F C  COURSES
 Mr. Donkor, Zone "D" Chairman reported that the first
Course scheduled for 16th – 18th May, 2011 could not come off.
However the second one on "Succession Planning" was successfully organised on
24th and 25th May, 2011.
-
A
minimum of twenty (20) members were expected to attend, but thirty-six (36)
members attended the course at Rexmar Hotel, Santasi.
-
He
reported that the course was very educative and members learnt a lot.
-
The
facilitators did a great job and the programme was an interactive one –where
everybody contributed and shared ideas.
-
He
was of the view that the cost of the Workshop in relation to the breakfast and
lunch served made it very moderate.
-
He
appealed to members to attend such workshop for there were so much to learn.
-
The
Chairman, Vice Chairman, Regional Secretary, Mr. Dwoben and others shared their
experiences with members and appealed to them not to miss the next one.
-
Mr.
Appiah , the Chairman thanked Mr. Donkor for co-ordinating on behalf of the
Association.
B.             ASSOCIATION'S
VEHICLE
The Chairman
informed the house on the poor state of the Association's Bus. That the
Executive was still waiting for the committee's report.
C.             KMA
OPERATIONAL LICENSE
-
The
Asst. Secretary informed members to endeavour to pay their KMA Operational
license through the secretariat. He reminded members that the grace period
given was at the end of May. A form for school owners was passed round
for  Proprietors / Proprietresses to write their
names and phone numbers.
D.             SECRETARIAT
(PROJECT)
Nana Amoako
Atta- Chairman for the Building Committee- reported that the Association had
four (4) Proposals. Two consultants were contacted for advice. The Committee
upon the advice given had awarded the contract and work had started at the
site.
-
He
told the house that, at the appropriate time members would be sent to the
project site for observation.
-
He
thanked members who had paid their seed money. He appealed to those
who had made part payment to complete their
payments and invite those who had paid nothing to join the bus of progress and
development.
E.             Metro
office – information
Mr. Christian
Agyiri from the Metro Office – Education – Room 8. Informed members that, the
office would be organising promotional Examination for Basic School 6. The
exams starts from 11th July, to 15th July, 2011. Fee
charged would be GH¢1.50. The closing date for the registration was 10th
June, 2011.
-
He
advised proprietors to help the Education Service, by checking the movements of
pupils and students form one school to another.
-
He
told members to always ask for testimonials, continuous assessment from and
admission numbers of pupils who wants to move.
-
Mr.
M. A. Appiah asked the Officer a question. That, what was the criteria
the  GES used to give a school license to operate.
He cited some sites (locations) which were not conducive for education as a
case in point. The officer agreed with the Chairman and promised to send the
question to the appropriate quarters.
F.              SPORTS.
The sports
organiser, Mr. Fokuo, informed the house that the football Gala for boys and
girls at the basic and secondary levels would come off. He invited sports
organisers and teachers of all the zones and schools to meet at the secretariat
on 2nd June, 12.00noon for planning

He
asked members who were interested in basketball and volleyball courts to
contact him.
G.         GREEGOLD MEDIA CONSULT
The Asst.
Secretary informed members of the pending HIV Ambassador –Stand Tall challenge.
A quiz for JHS students. That there would be screening exercises at Quarshie
Idun Hall at the Centre for National Culture on 10th and 11th
June, 2011, at 8:30am.

Registration
forms were distributed to interested school. Each school was to present five
(5) students.
H.               Welfare report (funerals)
-
Mr.
Boakye – Welfare reported that the Association was able to attend the two
funerals.
-
The
first funeral for Mad. Fosuaa, Mr.
Mensah Abrampah, Zone "A" secretary's daughter, at Ntonso was on 19th
May, 2011.
-
Zone
"A" members and the Regional Executive attended.
-
The
second funeral was for the Late Peter Addo Donkor of Solid Rock Int. School at
Anwonomaso was on 21st May, 2011.
-
The
Regional Executive with Zone B1 members were to attend. Mr. Boakye reported
that it was the chairman of Zone B1 and two (2) other members who joined the
Regional Executives to attend. He appealed to members to help organise and
attend funerals, since it was members  responsibility.
I.                BOOK
FOR SALE
The Vice –
Chairman, Mr. Narh – Korley introduced to members a book entitled "The End of
Man" written by Mr. Francis O. Ansah, the former PRO  of the
Association, at a cost of GH¢5.00.
-
Another
book on Social Studies was also introduced. It is published by K. Ofori – Atta
of "Awurade Boa Me" series. He said the aim was to bridge the yawning gap in
the grades our student were getting. There were workbooks for BS7,  BS8  and
BS9.
5.     A  O  B (ANNOUNCEMENT
)
Zone A Chairman invited members to next meeting.
Mr. Bentum reminded members to go to the secretariat
and pay their KMA Operational License Fee.
6.
 ADJOURNMENT
At exactly
12:57pm, Nana Adu Brobbey of Rapid Academy moved for the adjournment of the
meeting. Mr. Fokuo, Sports Organiser seconded the motion.
The closing
prayer was said by Pastor Mrs. Juliana Addai of Mummy's Darl Educational
Complex.
